Top Wedding Trends for 2019

Wedding Planning

Each year wedding trends evolve, which means that each year’s wedding celebrations are different from the one’s in the past and for the years to follow. Though the wedding decor, florals, and fashion are constantly changing, its rare to see a trend completely disappear. In fact, we like to think that each year adds it’s own twist to the already incredible trends in place. This is great since the options for engaged or newly engaged couples just continues to grow. Meaning, you can pick and choose trends of the past that speak to you and put your own unique touches that are up with today’s trends.

This is why we are so excited about the wedding trends coming up in 2019. Couples are finally taking major life events and making them more and more about the couple—if these touches are any indication, weddings are becoming more personalized than ever before.

2019 will definitely be a year that will blow your mind. We have definitely seen brand new ceremony set-ups (ceremonies are moving away from the arches and using unique backdrops), nontraditional floral components (like pampas grass and wheat), balloon installations, vellum invitation suites, and velvet accents are just a few of the stand-out ideas on this list.

Dark and Edgy color palettes will dominate the scene in 2019. Couples will move away from contrast with the romantic blush décor, soft textures, and bright photography that has dominated the wedding scene the past few years. Couples are getting creative with color palettes and choosing colors that not often seen together.

Granted the modern and edgy look is becoming popular. However, their are couples that want to include traditional design elements. The classic ballroom wedding or the elegant dinner party wedding are always in style. This is such a timeless wedding trend.

CocoaBerry Cake Co.

We are so excited to see the statement cake making a come back. Yes, we think the dessert stations will still be around for years to come. But there is something extra special about the statement cake. The cake is a focal point of the reception, so why not make it big and grand?

We predict that the Royal Wedding will definitely have some influence for 2019 couples. The European Elegance decor and the large floral installations will be popular. C’mon who could forget that gorgeous installation over the door for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding.

Paper texture will definitely be a trend to watch in 2019. Paper stocks that are almost sheer (Vellum) or thicker stocks that have the texture of velvet will be popular. Vellum and textured stocks are just two of the ways that paper goods are evolving.

The days of the traditional ceremony are gone. Couples are finding new ways to dress up their ceremony. We are seeing elaborate ceremony backdrops, large floral installations, or round / winding aisle. This is fantastic since the couples are incorporating personalization into their ceremony and staying away for the traditional ceremony set-up.

Balloon arches are not just for birthdays or graduation parties. They are great for selfie stations, escort walls, or to jazz up food stations.

Friar Tux

One of our favorite trends for 2019 is velvet. We love to design and set tables for receptions. A great way to implement velvet is with a specialty linen. There are tons of colors to choose. If you choose the right color, it could be used all season long. Another option could be the bridesmaids dresses or the groomsmen’s coats.

Pampas grass and wheat are definitely on the radar for 2019. Pampas grass as a backdrop for ceremony or a moody vibe for a floral runner on a table. Either way these non-traditional florals will elevate any element of your event.

Of course, if you have a guest list that is higher than 200 guests this might not be an option for you. If you have a smaller guest list then you can take advantage of personalizing your wedding with a special note to each guest. This is an extra special way to say thank you to each individual guest.

We are loving the watercolor or illustrations on save-the-dates, invitations, envelopes, and linens. The artwork these artist create are so personalized to the couple. The save-the-dates could have a story drawn showing how the couple met or the invitations could have an illustration of the venue. The artwork commissioned can be used for years to come. Try to use the artwork in as many places as possible to get the most out of the money spent since it’s not cheap to purchase an artist to commission the artwork. Use it for personal stationary, thank you notes, artwork in the home, or return address labels, etc.
